The Restoration of “Old City Hall”

Old City Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located at the corner of Kennedy and Boylston Street in Bradford, McKean County, PA. The City of Bradford has completed the rehabilitation of this building, including the development of parking at an approximate cost of $5 million.

During 2004, the City of Bradford completed the majority of the restoration work on the exterior of Old City Hall which included replacement of the roof, decorative ornamental metal replacement, replacement of windows, exterior painting, and the cleaning and repointing of the exterior brick, terra cotta and stone surfaces.

During 2006, the second phase of the project, which included roof and window replacement on the annex, a new handicap accessible entrance, a service entrance, the installation of an elevator, all new building systems, the interior restoration and site work was completed. .

The prime contractors involved in the project included Mistick Construction from Pittsburgh (General Contractor), Pure Tech, Inc. from Bradford (Electrical Contractor), Mazza Sheet Metal, Inc. from Olean, NY (HVAC Contractor), Anderson-Shortell, Inc. also from Olean (Plumbing Contractor), and Allied Fire Protection Systems, Inc. from Falconer, NY (Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Contractor).

Offices currently located in the building include Dr. John Addis, Steve Grillo and Adam Jack of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Dr. Brian Volpe, Attorney Mark Hollenbeck, Main Street Manager, Elm Street Manager, and the McKean County VA Clinic.

Old City Hall is located in a Pennsylvania Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ). Eligible businesses locating here are exempt from most state and local taxes until December 31, 2013. Additional information can be obtained by viewing the Old City Hall profile.
