Impact Bradford Streetscape Project
In 2008, the City of Bradford awarded a construction contract to Robert J. Cummins d/b/a Bob Cummins Construction Company in the amount of $1,467,997.65 for the Impact Bradford Streetscape Project. Construction funds for the project were provided by the Federal Transportation Enhancement Program and Pennsylvania Hometown Streets Program.
The work included new curbs and sidewalks, decorative stamped concrete, traffic calming, and landscaping. In 2009 the upgrade of the traffic signalization at the intersection of Boylston and Kennedy Streets was added to the contract at a cost of approximately $130,000.
At the City Council Meeting of August 23, 2009, authorization to enter into a contract with IA Construction was approved for milling and paving Boylston Street from the East Washington Street Bridge to Davis Street and Kennedy Street from Main Street to Forman Street. The paving project is complete. The City utilized CDBG funds for this portion of the project.
New banners have been hung along with beautiful hanging baskets. Donations to assist with the purchase of the banners and baskets were received from Dr. John Addis, Mr. John Kohler, Dr. Brian Volpe, Mr. Steven Grillo, Mr. John Satterwhite, Mr. Jim Macfarlane and Dr. & Mrs. Luis Marrero.
We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this project. The improvements compliment the ongoing efforts to enhance Main Street and brings additional vitality to the downtown.
